FAN Courier's regional hub at Cluj-Napoca — the second regional hub PPAE developed to extend the FAN Courier network outside Bucharest. For this series of buildings, PPAE built together with FAN Courier a recognizable architectural language — a secondary envelope that wraps the office volume and turns each hub into a brand landmark in its city.

Challenges

The Cluj hub continued and refined the visual language defined at Brasov, adapting it to a different site, with its own urban exposure on Bd. Muncii. Functionally, the project meant integrating into a single complex of approximately 8,500 sqm a 130 m long sorting hall, a three-level office building and the technical annexes — all sized for the growth of FAN Courier's regional operations.

Solutions

• Secondary envelope of perforated sheet-metal panels on a cantilevered steel structure. The device wraps the office volume on three sides and creates the hub's visual identity. The perforated metal mesh — colored in the FAN brand blue — filters the light, protects the glazed facade and outlines a volume suspended above the docking area, visible from Bd. Muncii.
• Two volumes with distinct expression. The sorting hall — efficient, single-storey, sized for flow — and the B+G+2F office building — glazed, visible, with the signature facade — are treated as two different architectural registers, articulated into a single functional complex.

Result

For FAN Courier, a regional hub that serves operations in the north-west of the country and consolidates the brand's visual identity in the Cluj urban landscape. For PPAE, the second chapter of a series that defined the architectural language of FAN Courier's regional hubs.
